THE Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers – Cebu Chapter (PIChE-Cebu) is holding the 7th Chemical Engineering Week from Sept. 15 to 21.
Various activities are lined up for the celebration.
These include a press conference at 9 a.m. today at the DOST compound in sitio Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City; Science & Math Quiz Bowl tomorrow at 1 p.m. at SM Consolacion activity center; and the first annual Students Chemical Engineers’ Summit to be launched by the University of San Carlos Chemical Engineering Society on Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. at the Cebu International Convention Center. The summit will feature speakers from the different companies such as Treasure Island Industrial Corp., PASAR Corporation, Unilab, Roche Singapore Technical Supports and Fluor Philippines. It will cover topics concerning the different chemical engineering electives: materials manufacturing, management and entrepreneurship, food and drugs, energy, bioprocess engineering and environmental engineering. Attendees will consist of all Chemical Engineering students from the University of San Carlos and Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT-U). In the afternoon, an inter-color sub-chapter bowling tournament and PIChE videoke challenge will be held at 6 p.m. at the Countrymall Bowlingplex.
From Sept. 19 onwards, activities to be held are Chemical Engineering Exhibits at SM Consolacion Activity Center on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.; seminar on introduction to CAD for ChEs and PCOs on Sept 20 at 8 p.m. at the DOST conference room; and soap making at the CIT sub-chapter community extension in Labangon, Cebu City on Sept 21 at 8 a.m., which will be held simultaneously with PIChE sports fest at CIT-University grounds from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
